Barf, Crowds, and Candy!

We had such a fun time last night.. trick or treating for the first time. In our neighborhood we made it to two whole houses in about 20 minutes. We practiced saying "trick or treat" all week and she didn't say it once to one person. Then we went to my parents neighborhood and walked among the crowds of people that leave their own neighborhoods to come to this one and make it crazy! ( I am NOT included.. my parents live there! :) Where we had to fight our way through people.. wait in line to get to the person's front door and get trampled almost by big kids. Kate couldn't make it two minutes without having to look in her bag and take out more candy and tell me she needed it opened. After arriving back at my parent's house we found the driveway was all wet. My mom explained a little boy had barfed and they had to hose it off... as Kate proceeds to walk through this in her little sock type shoes. Jim said he picked her up and the shoes smelled like puke.. he was worried there was chunks. he needs to calm down.

Jim's sister taught her "peace"... we have been trying to teach her how to say she was two years old for weeks.. and now she finally gets it.

Pervert Walking the Streets

I think some of you know I have been sitting in on a trial of a former church member who sexually assaulted 4 young girls in our church. One of which is my sister-in-laws younger sister, so this has been very close to home. We have been dealing with this "situation"for more than 2 years now and finally in September it was taken to trial in front of Judge John D. Hartigan Jr. This was a VERY difficult thing for these girls to go through. Each one of them had to get on the stand with this pervert sitting 20 feet in front of them and describe what he did to them. The prosecuting attorney did a wonderful job of showing that this man was indeed guilty. We had to wait until Oct 30th, which was 6 weeks after the trial for the judge to render his verdict. We felt pretty confident that William Gillespie would be proven guilty and would be doing some time in the state pen. As about half of our church including 3 of the 4 victims sat in the courtroom this past Tuesday our nerves were running wild. The judge went briefly through each victims testimonies and admitted that Bill did in fact touch these girls in inappropriate ways, he then continued to acquit him of all 4 counts. WHAT??? He said that there was not enough evidence to prove Bill's intent was for sexual gratification. I'm sorry, but for what other reason do you expose yourself, touch young girls in their private areas, and stroke yourself in their presence, than for sexual gratification? Since Tuesday there have been articles in the paper, one of the dad's did an interview on channel 3 last night and did another one on 1110 KFAB this morning. The media can not understand how the judge rendered such a ridiculous verdict. I am sure you can imagine the turmoil this has had on the girls, their families and also our church. I have a feeling it may not be over, but I am not really sure what the next step will be. All I do know is that William Gillespie is a pedophile and even though he may have walked "free" on Tuesday afternoon he will be dealt with when he stands in front of the Lord. He will get what he deserves. If you would like to read the article that was in the paper on Wednesday here is the link.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Happy Halloween, everyone! I have to tell you that Nici's fun Halloween drink e-mail the other day got me thinking about the Bunko/Halloween party that never was. It was going to be a blast! I had "Graveyard Gravel" as sweet treats (they honestly looked like rocks!), "Bathwater Punch", "Body Bits Dip", "Poison" (aka wine), almond bark covered "fingers", eyeball icecubes, and all sorts of fun stuff. I even had a Jesus wig that Kit cut to look like Jay's hair. That's what I was going to be, Jay. Darn. Not in the cards this time, I guess. But slap me back on the end of the Bunko list and we'll have fun, then. Have fun tonight, everyone!

Song of the Day

I don't know how many of you go to Stabucks often.. but right now they are running this promo with itunes. Everytime you buy a coffee you get a little card for a free download of a cool stabucks song! Mr. Jim goes to Stabucks A LOT to get himself a cup of Joe so he brought home a bunch of them. We entered all the codes tonight and downloaded a bunch of songs! Most of them are really awesome... totally good mood music. There were a couple songs that I didn't like and I argued with Jim about why we were downloading songs we wouldn't listen to and take up hard drive. He said with a disgusted look, " Jill.... there free!" So of course we must download them.. so we can fully take advantage of ANYTHING Starbucks and itunes is giving us! :)
So we both made our own Stabucks mixes tonight.. plus throwing in a couple of other songs we like. We both are chomping at the bit to get in our cars in the morning and throw in our super duper new cool mixes and JAM on the way to work! Jim said he was worried he wouldn't be able to make it into work.. he would just sit in his car and listen.. I will be taking my mix INTO work! haha!
If anyone would ever like to come over and look at our expansive collection of music on itunes and play DJ for a day and make a nice little mix that you can shake your groove thing to, please call me.

Drafts

does anyone know how to post something that is saved as a Draft on here?

Eat it...

I am grouchy. I bought a magazine subscription on ebay, which I have talked to several people that have and it was fine.. but of course I am the one person that gets SCREWED! I contacted the people about 3 months after not getting it and they told me it was coming.. never got it. I have emailed them nasty emails.. demanding my $18 dollars back.. nothing. And of course I can't dispute it now because its been over 60 days.. how conveniant for them. Arg. I hate losing money.. even though it was only 18 bucks.. still makes me mad.

Use Baking Soda for what?

So I came home to the wet dog smell today. There is nothing WORSE than that! With the house being closed up and the weather being so rainy lately, how do you eliminate the grody smells (without eliminating the dog)? So I tried the smelly candles, the plug-ins, the room sprays, even the smelly carpet powder...I ended up with flowery/vanilla-y/apple-y wet dog smell. It was worse!

Then I had an "ah-ha" moment.

I sprinkled Arm & Hammer Baking Soda on the carpet, let it sit for about an hour (you get a funny grainy feeling in your socks!) vacuum it up, and viola! Smell gone. THEN spruce up with the smelly good stuff if ya want.

So I started thinking - It's
pure, it's natural, what else could you use it on? You HAVE to go on this site - so many things even I couldn't imagine! And for what? --Way less than a dollar a box? There are even fun activities for kids.

Genius!

Don't go to Pooley's Pumpkin Patch!

So I was watching the new tonight and apparently Pooley's Pumpkin Patch Family isn't playing fair. There is a neighboring pumpkin patch called The Big Red Barn & Pumpkin Patch(or something like that) whose been putting up signs near the road. They continually go missing and so they hire a private investigator because the city says they can't do anything without proof. So the PI catches a woman (related to the Pooley's family) getting out of her car and pulling two signs out of the ground and placing them in her car. She refused to go on camera, but a spokesperson from Pooley's statement was something about : we've had over 150 signs stolen in the last 3 years but we don't want to burden the city with this petty stuff, etc....we hope we can put this behind us and just enjoy the season! Are you kidding me?!?!?! (but here are two cute pictures I got of the boys before I ban that place!)

Ode to Jill...

Girlfriend, you win the award this week for most blogs and biggest social butterfly. Holy cow woman - two concerts, one including a grody bathroom, the other crazed dancing fans. And not only that - it was your birthday! You rode a giraffe and ate mushroom soup. Yet you found the time to blog it all. Can it get any better!?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JILL!! We love you!

What did you say?

  • Went to Elton John last night with my parents for my bday
  • Realized I don't actually know that many Elton John songs...
  • Had crazy Elton John fans in front of us and had to endure watching them dance the whole concert.. not pretty.
  • Realized half way into the concert I had lost one of my earings.. that came with a matching necklace.. :(
  • The concert was so loud I had a headached in 10 minutes and couldn't hear for most of the car ride home
  • The highlight of the night was eating mushroom soup at M's Pub....mmmmm.
  • Realized why I don't go to concerts that often.

Private Practice

Did anyone watch tonight? Holy COW! that was a SAD episode. whew.. my eyes might be puffy tomorrow. I won't talk about the details..in case someone wants to watch it still..

Deserving of a Post all Its Own..

I thought the disgusting bathroom at Sokol deserved a post of its own.
This is soo discusting. I am too old to be peeing in places like this! I refuse! But a girl's gotta pee!
What am I to do!
Thank goodness there was some TP in the stall...

Rock on Mandy Moore!

So last night I went to see Mandy Moore with some girls from work. (see below.. drinking some yummy 2$ PBR) She was playing at Sokol (yuk-o) and us and about 90-100 other people jammed with her to her new music.. that nobody knew.. for only about 1 hour. At the end she did play "Candy" and made it a little jazzy - very cool - and the crowd went NUTS! It was a great way to end the concert.

The opening act was Ben Lee. I have heard of him.. I think. We got there right after he finished his set. But we still had to get a picture with him, pretend we loved him, and tell him he did a "KILLER JOB DUDE!" Because when was the next time I could get a picture with someone famous!
One of the pics of Mandy. I had several.. she was very close. She is pretty and sweet and she said "You guys are great! I F@#$ckin love you Omaha!" I could not believe sweet little Mandy dropped the "F" bomb. She also rubbed her nose a lot. My coworkers think she might have been high. She is very earthy ... and stuff now. The pop is all gone.
I will say though, she sounded GREAT! She has a really great voice and sounded just like her CD, if not better.. you know how some people sound worse in person, she was great.
My coworkers did faint at one time because we couldn't believe how close we were to Mandy Moore. Luckily I held it together long enough to take a picture..

The OTHER George...

I have an undeniable crush for these men...they melt my butter! I am just moseying along on the internet, checking out MTV, People, etc. And who do I see...ahhh, George. Mr. Clooney, that is. How dashing. How handsome. Just a classic. And what a riot. I would love to spend the day with him.

But it doesn't stop there. Imagine my surprise when I realize I'm watching soccer on TV? Oh, and I am home alone! I can't even blame my husband for making me watch sports. But who CAN I blame? A little hottie by the name of David Beckham. He's so hot he get's two pics. Only because the second is simply amazing! I have no other point for this posting, other than to drool. I can't concentrate anymore...seriously...who has muscles like that?? I kinda have a thing for shoulders...yum. Go ahead, click on the picture. Get a closer look. It's an art form.

Britney, you're "Toxic"!

Oops, she did it again! Britney lost custody of her two cute munchkins to ex-hubby Kevin Federline. (Whoever would have thought we'd actually be rooting for him to get custody?) What happened to the fabulous, gorgeous Britney of yesteryear? Dancing and getting loose and flat out EN-TER-TAIN-ING the heck out of us at her Qwest show just three and a half years ago? Get your Mommy back in your life Brit, clean up your act, lose the drugs and alcohol, and come back, come back. We miss you so...

Thanks Tom

I read about this on another person' blog. I am a blog whore...

Anywho, there is this guy named Tom and he designs shoes. And for every pair of shoes you buy, he donates a pair of shoes to some kid in Africa or something who doesn't have any shoes.

Sadly the shoes only go up to a size 10 in women.. whatever.. but they have kids sizes. As soon as the girls ones get off back order.. apparently they are popular.. I am SO buying Kate a pair. They are cute.. and we will be saving some poor little kid's feet! Check it out!

I will miss you all like candy...

On Tuesday, Oct 2, I will leave my world as an almost 27year old professional, wife, and mother and become a screaming, crazy 17 year old. I will be going with some friends from work to go see Mandy Moore in concert at Sokol. I am a little scared about going to Sokol at night, but I will bring my glok and scream with all the other Mandy Moore fans...maybe buying a tshirt....maybe waving a lighter in the air.. who knows. I will take pictures for sure and post immediately!

Aaaargh....Grey's....Like Crack

So I've decided that I watch too much tv...but on that note...time to discuss Grey's....First of all (I won't spoil anything for those who have dvr'd it and haven't watched it yet, and on that note are they not playing it another night this year?) but what is up with make-up??? DId anyone else notice how horrible the makeup was especially on Izzy and Meredith??? It was so blotchy and bad colored. Second....I'm not sure what I think about Christina's emotion all of a sudden...and what the hell---Meredith & Derek, Izzy & George?????????????????????????? Talk amongst yourselves.....

(Side-note...no clue how to upload a picture from the web so this post is bland....)

* See Jami's first picture below-TR Knight

So Not Fair!

So I was watching Grey's tonight (not too sure about all of that Izzy telling George she was Bambi business...), and I thought George, aka T.R. Knight in real life, was looking pretty yummy. I'm thinking in an alternate universe where I was not married and I actually got the chance to meet T.R. Knight, that he might like me. (Hey, a girl can dream!) But alas, it's not meant to be as that rockin' stud is gay. And can I tell you that I need a towel to catch the drool whenever I see Nate Berkus on Oprah. Oh dear, he is just too gorgeous for words. Mmmmm.

A girl can dream. A girl can dream...

It's Hockey Time in Omaha!

We just got our notice from Cox Cable that Jay's NHL Center Ice package is finally arriving! (It's all he's ever wanted...such simple needs he has.) He's patiently been waiting to watch hockey since June. I made him close his eyes, and bestowed the letter into his open hands. He read the letter aloud: "The package was added to your account and games will begin September 29th 2008." He chuckled and said, "Looks like I'll have to wait another year to watch some hockey."

Cox should maybe proof read their letters. I'm pretty sure that last time I checked, it was 2007! He, he.

Whoa..

I interviewed a girl today who was recently a nurse at Planned Parenthood. We started talking about some of the things she did and how most of the patients she saw were young girls needing birthcontrol. Then she told me how her location (In Iowa) recently became an abortion clinic too. She told me they do the abortions only on Saturdays and typically they do around 100.. that is right.. 100 abortions each Saturday. I asked her how this many could be done - she told me it only takes about 3 minutes. The Dr performs the procedure and then the nurses have to sort through it.. to check and see if everything was taken out. The saddest part was.. she said 80% of the patients are girls ages 12-17 yrs old... They don't have to have a parent's consent, they just have to go to the Judge in Pottawotomie and he will sign off on it..
When she was telling me this I started to get tears in my eyes.. thinking about this HUGE number.. She was pregnant when she worked there too. She quit after she had the baby. She said it doesn't matter if your pro-choice or pro-life, it is hard to sit and see 100 people come in every Saturday and abort their baby and leave... or the young ones.. get dropped off and have their boyfriend or whatever waiting in the parking lot. :(
Just had to share.. this broke my heart.

The Many Looks of Antonia: A Study of Hair

A Small Tribute to Colleen, Professional Photographer

I would like to give a heart-felt "Thanks" and a "Hell yeah" to my friend and yours, Colleen Dustin. This wonderful gal is up to the challenge of taking the first official Rossitto/ Willets/ Carey family picture on Sunday. My brother-in-law John, is home from Iraq for a little over two weeks, and heads back on Tuesday. Colleen is graciously giving up some of her family time on HER WEEKEND OFF and is doing this kind gesture for us.

My Mom heard the new that the photo shoot would be happening on Sunday and just about cried she was so happy.

Get ready for some kisses on your feet this weekend and make sure to wear your cape, Colleen. You're pretty wonderful, SuperGirl!

Oh Canada...

Does anyone know where Canada is?
I miss Brian.

Stupid Canada...
:(

HOT HOT HOT!

As some of you know.. mainly just Jami... I dropped some pizza or something in my oven.. and probably some other crap over the last 4 years and lately everytime we use our oven it smokes, alot.
So last night Jim said, "Let's clean it!"
I said, "With what? Do we have some cleaner?"
Jim said, "Doesn't the oven clean itself?" and proceeds to push the button on the stove that says clean.. or something and we lock the oven and it proceeds to get really freaking hot! It takes 4 hours so we went to bed. This morning we peaked inside.. and it was all clean, with some grey ashes on the floor! Whoa!
So today I went to www.ask.com to check out how it works. Apparently the oven gets to 900 degrees and basically torches any leftover stuff thats in there! It is SO cool!
You all must try it..
and no judgement that we have lived in our house for 4 years and never cleaned the inside of our oven.. and don't look in our microwave either. We HAVE cleaned that.. just not real recently..

Slacking...

I would have to say some of us are sort of slacking on blogging...our last post was on Sept 19th!! I know, I am at fault too. Let's step it up ladies!!

"O" for cryin' out loud, Oprah!

Has anyone watched the Oprah show lately? I'll see bits and pieces every once in a while during naptime. I haven't watched it a whole bunch over the last two years, but I do like the decorating shows when Nate (yummy, gorgeous, beautiful, fabulous, gay, best-style-ever Nate) is on, and I like shows regarding aging and food with Dr. Oz and so on. So if you've tuned in at all...does she seem like a total witch or is it just me?

I read James Frey's book, "A Million Little Pieces" about his "true" account of his addiction and rehab experience. It was her selection for her book club. Okay, he exaggerated most of it, blah, blah. Did anyone see that episode? Totally not cool that he said it was an autobiography when it should have been fiction, but when she had him on her show to discuss it, I felt like she was incensed, not because he pulled the wool over the public's eyes, but that he did it to HER. Very uncomfortable. And then Ron Goldman's Dad and sister were on talking about how they were releasing OJ's book, "If I Did It". They're only making 17 cents a book and they're giving that to foundations, blah, blah again. They mostly just wanted to get OJ's confession out there and take any money he could make away from him. Well Miss Thing obviously didn't agree with it, and was such a bitch to them. She sighed a lot was short with them, and so on (Jay thought so too). I know it's her show, but so much for unbiased interviewing.

And lastly, I've been annoyed with her ever since I heard her comment on why her and Steadman haven't married. I tried looking it up on Google but can't find it. I am so fine with couples who decide not to marry, but her quote made it sound like it was so beneath her, and that those of us who do decide (to go through with this sacred bond) are silly and foolish.

She looked bigger today than she did last year. Like, by a lot. Is she annoyed her weight isn't under control? Or is she sitting on something uncomfortable like a corn cob? I'll report back when I see her happy and smiling like she actually want's to be there.

LONG LIVE "THE HILLS"!!

Love This Place!

Can I just tell you how much I love this store. I don't go there very often because I tend to find too many things that I "need" and my bill ends up being way too much! I did go there today for a few things. I get my peanut butter there, and I am making a recipe that called for sun dried tomatoes so I just went there and bought theirs off of the Antipasta bar. I see people in there that are totally doing their grocery shopping. I don't know how they can afford it, but let me tell you that if money was not object to me I would totally shop there all the time! I have been doing some looking into "organic" and "all natural" eating and it is VERY interesting! Pretty sick all the things they add to our food to preserve the flavor or make the shelf life longer. It is no wonder so many people are sick and overweight!!

Traffic Study

Do you guys ever see those people.. usually sitting in a green SUV.. on the side of the road and they have a big white sign on the door of the car that says Traffic Study.. or something like that. What are they doing?? Counting cars? For 8 hours? Does anyone know anything about this? I don't know why.. but I ALWAYS slow down a little.. like maybe they are using the radar on me or something and they are going to call the cops..

i caught

Do any of you ever watch "i caught" on ABC Tuesdays at 8pm? It's actually a pretty interesting show about the internet, and how it's affected our lives. They have a little segment at the end called 'Your Three Words'. It's always to a great song, and it makes me cry every time, in the best way possible. I think I'll challenge myself and try to upload one this week. Slim to none chance it will get on, but I've gotta try! The comments to this video are so touching. I love it and I hope you guys will too! Turn up the volume on the computer...here's the video:

Safe Haven

Has everyone seen the story on the news yesterday and today about the girl who left her newborn baby in the bathroom at Bergan Mercy. This has prompted talk about the Safe Haven law and how NE is one of two states in the US to not have this law.. what does everyone think about this?
I am really torn. I think it is horrible that a mother could do this.. just drop off her baby in the dumpster or somewhere bc she didn't want the baby. Would allowing mothers to just drop off their unwanted babies at a hospital or police station cut down on cases of this? Or would this make more people not have any consequences for just having unwanted babies and getting rid of them? I think women need to know if they have a baby that they don't want to know they can give it up to adoption.. but women still need to be educated on how to NOT get pregnant in the first place if they are not in a situation to have and care for a baby. I think women who have babies and then want to get rid of them and dump them in a dumpster need to have severe consequences.. this is horrible. ugh.
what does everyone think? Does anyone know more about this or feel really strongly one way?
What is the other state that doesn't have this law?

ABC

I am really excited about the new shows coming out this fall on ABC (my favorite channel). Some of the ones I will be trying out are: "Samantha Who" (10/15 Mon. 8:30), Pushing Daisies (10/3 Wed. 7:00), Private Practice (no duh, 9/26 Wed. 8:00), GREY'S!!! (9/27 Thurs. 8:00), and Big Shots (9/27 Thurs. 9:00). I will be busy this fall and DVR'ing a lot considering that I am already committed to "The Hill's" (MTV Mon. 9:00) and "My Boys" (TBS Mon. 9:00 too!) and embarrassingly enough "Ghost Whisperer" (Fri. on CBS).

But what I am most stressed about (on top of getting all of these shows watched) is that "What About Brian (Spangler)" is NOT on ABC's Fall 2007 schedule. So I emailed them...WHERE IS IT? If you care, I will let you know what they write back to me.
Please don't remind me about any shows that I have forgotten...I am not usually this much of a TV hussy, but I can't WAIT for end of September this year!

OAMC tip...

Imagine my surprise when I saw these in the "food storage" isle at Target. How perfect for OAMC...these are 8x8 that can go from the freezer to the OVEN - you can bake right in them! And they aren't any more expensive than the other tupperware storage containers we have used, except now you don't have to transfer into a baking dish. Something to keep in mind.
