I think some of you know I have been sitting in on a trial of a former church member who sexually
assaulted 4 young girls in our church. One of which is my sister-in-laws younger sister, so this has been very close to home. We have been dealing with this "situation"for more than 2 years now and finally in September it was taken to trial in front of Judge John D.
Hartigan Jr. This was a VERY difficult thing for these girls to go through. Each one of them had to get on the stand with this pervert sitting 20 feet in front of them and describe what he did to them. The prosecuting
attorney did a wonderful job of showing that this man was indeed
guilty. We had to wait until Oct 30
th, which was 6 weeks after the trial for the judge to render his verdict. We felt pretty confident that William Gillespie would be proven guilty and would be doing some time in the state pen. As about half of our church including 3 of the 4 victims sat in the courtroom this past Tuesday our nerves were running wild. The judge went briefly through each victims testimonies and admitted that Bill did in fact touch these girls in
inappropriate ways, he then continued to acquit him of all 4 counts. WHAT??? He said that there was not enough evidence to prove Bill's intent was for sexual gratification. I'm sorry, but for what other reason do you expose yourself, touch young girls in their private areas, and stroke yourself in their presence, than for sexual gratification? Since Tuesday there have been articles in the paper, one of the dad's did an interview on channel 3 last night and did another one on 1110
KFAB this morning. The media can not understand how the judge rendered such a
ridiculous verdict. I am sure you can imagine the turmoil this has had on the girls, their families and also our church. I have a feeling it may not be over, but I am not really sure what the next step will be. All I do know is that William Gillespie is a
pedophile and even though he may have walked "free" on Tuesday afternoon he will be dealt with when he stands in front of the Lord. He will get what he deserves. If you would like to read the
article that was in the paper on Wednesday here is the link.

I cannot believe this!! This makes me sick.. I can't even imagine what these girls and the families and the members of your church are going through. I am so sad to hear how this ended...
I guess that's what's they mean when they refer to "Preverted Justice". Here's a hint for everyone...next time we vote, vote NO to all the current judges. They allow crap like this to happen, and drunk drivers free to ruin peoples' lives. I am so sorry for all of those girls and their families, Erica. :(
